Privacy Choices
Last updated: September 22, 2026
Blitter does not have accounts and does not keep a copy of your prompts. The choices below are how you control what stays on your Mac, what is shared anonymously with the community gallery, and what (optionally) goes to an AI service.
This page is the “Privacy Choices” URL for the App Store listing. The full policy is at Privacy Policy.
Community gallery sharing (on by default)
Animations you save to your gallery are sent to Blitter anonymously for review, and may be published in the community gallery. The first time you save, Blitter tells you this and offers to turn it off.
What is sent: the animation’s settings, its name, two small preview images, and a random identifier for your copy of Blitter that is not linked to you. Nothing else — no name, no email, no files, no prompts.
To stop it:
- Open Settings and turn off Share my animations with the community.
That stops all future uploads. Animations already published stay in the gallery: because submissions carry nothing identifying, Blitter can’t tell which ones are yours to remove. To have something taken down, contact the address below and describe it.
Optional AI (the provider you choose)
Director and “describe a shape” only run when you pick a provider in Settings, paste your own API key for it, and tap Generate. Each tap sends the text you typed from this Mac to that provider. Blitter never sees it.
You choose the provider: Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or OpenAI. One provider is active at a time, and only that one is ever contacted.
To stop that:
- Don’t use Director or describe-a-shape.
- Or open Settings, find the provider under AI Providers, and press Remove Provider. That deletes its key from the Keychain on this Mac. Blitter stores a key per provider, so if you have added more than one, remove each of them.
What a provider stored from earlier requests (if anything) is under their privacy policy and your account with them, not Blitter’s. Review that in that provider’s account settings.
Data stored on this Mac
| What | Where | How to remove it |
|---|---|---|
| Settings (sequence, colors, grid, window) | macOS user defaults | Delete the app, or reset to defaults in the app |
| Selected AI provider and model | macOS user defaults | Delete the app, or reset to defaults in the app |
| AI request counts, by provider and model, and the monthly warning limit | macOS user defaults | Delete the app |
| Gallery setups and thumbnails | ~/Library/Application Support/Blitter/ |
Delete that folder, or delete items in the gallery |
| AI provider API keys (one per provider) | Keychain | Settings → AI Providers → Remove Provider |
Exported files (GIF, PNG, .blit, and so on) |
Wherever you saved them | Delete those files in Finder |
| Community sharing preference and your anonymous install identifier | macOS user defaults | Delete the app (resetting settings deliberately leaves both alone) |
Apart from community gallery sharing above, none of this is uploaded by Blitter.
Children
Blitter is not directed to children. The optional AI features should not be used by anyone under 18, because the terms of the AI services Blitter supports require users to be 18 or older.
